Alter-Native Craft-Art makes Handcrafted leather items that function as purses, pouch and bags. Inspired by new cultural art combination and using different techniques, Macrame jewelry that creates energy-rich wearable art for their wearers:

I hand-cut the leather pieces for my work using my original patterns. I sew the edges together with a machine or with leather cord. Some products are inlaid and decorated by a macrame piece design that I hand-weave using a durable polyester cord and a variety of minerals, or with minerals inlaid with an elaborate leather lace stitching. I use solid metal rivets and hardware to complete the designs. Combining the colors is an essential process to give different characteristics and presence to the products. Also, in the most intricate designs, I dyed the raw leather with natural dye and then I stamped with intricate designs around the edges, back, and top.

One of the unique features of my bag designs is its ability to convert from standard purse to backpack or to a hip bag with a simple system of snaps and d-rings. The bag converts between purse, hip bag, and backpack easily, giving it greater versatility.

These Leather bags are like artifacts that function as purses. Inspired by new cultural art combination and using Old World techniques. I offer a modern interpretation of the craftsman tradition. Some pieces have a micro-macrame design that I like to hand-weave. I pay much attention to creating original patterns, using an assortment of artistically cohesive styles in attempt to engender an array of feelings by admiring every detail.

Combination between western style and native tribal designs

I create these Leather Vests with minerals following my original patterns that combine the western style with native tribal designs. The detailed leather lace piece that is on the upper shoulders and back includes a cabochon gemstone that give more characteristics and presence to each vest.

Leather and micro-macrame techniques

I hand-knot every piece primarily with micro-macrame techniques. These knots hold solid semi-precious stone cabochons.

Artist statement

The artisanship that I elaborate with saddlery and macramé techniques is the vehicle
that develops my artistic creations of functional art. The beauty of the details in my products, which I reach with these techniques, is the best example of my career.

I started my career as an artisan when I was 19-year-old. At the beginning of my path as an artisan, the quality and beauty of my products surprised people, then I realized I had the skills for to be an Artisan. Now I am a self-taught person who likes to make my work grow and get better, is like a constant action in my practices. That is the way I express the love for what I do. I developed my artisanship in multiple places and countries, and allow external cultural influence affects the aesthetics of my products. Now living in Oregon, and the aesthetics of my products have evolved into a blend of western and new age style along with the tribal and American Indian designs. This gives an unique artistic contribution to my crafts. People call me Artist, I call myself Artisan, probably I’m between.
